TheArdenneThis ancient mountain range, a plateau of forests, meadows and valleys, takes its name from a forest, Arduenna Silva. It is in the year 54 BC that Julius Caesar describes this forest massif, as the biggest of all Gaul, by the expression Arduenna Silva.
Arduo in Celtic would mean "height", Arduenna Silva would therefore translate as "wooded heights".
